Advanced Legal Research

So I had a little snag with residency credits in my law school schedule and so I had to add one more class. I have to admit, at first I was NOT looking forward to any more law school work on my plate. However, I’ve come around a little and I think this new class might be pretty interesting. It’s “Advanced Legal Research” and it is taught by one of the law librarians. It’s basically a course on how to find things past the case law and statutes that we learned during 1L. We have a book that I totally scoffed at in the beginning because well it’s a book on how to research books, I mean really. However, I started my reading assignment and I was super surprised to find that it was both helpful and interesting. I even read long past where my assignment ended!

I think some of this enthusiasm has to do with some of the projects I’m working on at the new job. I have some really intriguing research subjects where there isn’t much to go on and so this class has impeccable timing. I’m generally a very practical learner so for me, seeing that this class will assist me in concrete goals at work is incredibly satisfying.

I’ll also leave you with some awesome research guides provided by my law school’s law library. I’ve found them to be very helpful.
