law student, tech addict, loving Dallas

Category Archives: Dallas

And, it begins.

My loyal blog readers, This blog is about to go though a right of passage of all law blogs. The blog will turn into one giant whining/venting outlet for my bar exam stress. I’ve watched many a blog go through this change and few come out on the other side intact. Sure, blogs keep going [...]

The Pearl Cup Revisited

Back in the early days of The Pearl Cup in Dallas (you know, last year) it tended to be a nice, quiet place to study. As the Knox-Henderson area has continued to grow in popularity and variety of offerings, this coffee shop has grown in popularity as well. They were honored with D Magazine’s “Best [...]

I’ve written about various coffee shops in Dallas for a while and I decided it was time for a round-up! Presenting, for the first time, all-together in one place, all of my posts about Dallas and coffee . . . The Pearl Cup It’s a Grind Buzzbrews Murray Street Coffee Summary Dallas Eats Page Well [...]

buzzbrews

Yesterday I got to try out another Dallas breakfast/coffee place, Buzzbrews Kitchen! I had the Veggie Veggie which is a veggie breakfast taco thing and it was really yummy. I also had the Kona Macadamia Latte and it was AMAZING. Overall a good experience, a great vegetarian menu, wide variety of fresh and healthy options [...]

Dallas Arboretum

This weekend, my husband ran in the 2009 Tour Des Fleurs race at the Dallas Arboretum. I’ve been out to the Arboretum for a few of their concerts in the summer but I haven’t really gotten to walk around. We’re super close to White Rock Lake and thus the Arboretum and I need to make [...]

murray street coffee

Dallas folks, I tried out another great coffee shop a while ago. I checked out Murray Street Coffee near  Deep Ellum. I had tried to drop by a few times previously but I always seemed to be there either on a Sunday (they’re not open) or too early. The coffee was great, the atmosphere was [...]

“Judicial Smackdown”

This past Wednesday, May 6th, two Civil District Judges in Dallas got into an altercation as documented here. Now the story is pretty cut and dry, but the comments below this story on the Dallas Morning News crime blog are priceless. It seems that both of these judges have a reputation. The altercation has even [...]

sixth floor museum

So as a now-native of Dallas, I find myself in that precarious position where you’re expected to recommend activities and attractions to outsiders. My mother came into town and since I had never been, we went to the Sixth Floor Museum across from Dealey Plaza in Dallas. Now as a current law student, one could guess at [...]

sugar snap peas!!

I present what I found when I went out to my plot at the local community garden and the lunch I made from it. I have to say that sugar snap peas right off the vine are incredible. I just tossed them in a little kosher salt, fresh garlic and 1/2 tsp of butter. YUM.

fill the boot!

Dallas Fire Rescue is participating in Fill the Boot to benefit MDA. It’s a great organization and the firefighters work so hard to help the organization, so if you see your local firemen walking around intersections with boots, spare a little change! Or a few dollars! Every little bit helps!
